Neck Lift

For patients whose primary concern is laxity in the neck muscles that appears as a wattle in the neck area, a neck lift may be needed. The laxity of skin and muscle in the neck may be a results of genetics or, more commonly, the natural aging process.

In many cases Dr. Bell routinely performs neck lift surgery in conjunction with a facelift in order to achieve a uniformly younger look in the face and neck area. In other cases, younger patients may need only a tightening of the muscles for a smoother more youthful look.

In a neck lift surgery the incisions are placed under the chin and behind the ears. Parts of the neck muscles may be removed or tightened with special sutures. The skin tissue may also be repositioned creating a smooth, natural, and youthful neckline.

The general principles of length of surgery and recovery period for a neck lift surgery are similar to a facelift.
